As a Field Service Mechanic with Southern States Toyotalift you will be trained, given your own service van and complete set of tools! Daily you will travel in your territory to customers to maintain and repair propane and electric powered forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, swing reaches, side loaders and sweepers!

Great Schedule and Pay!!
- Full Time. Monday to Friday; 7am-4:30pm
- $20-35 per hour depending on skillset
- Increases in pay as you earn more certifications during your career with us!
What you Need:
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year preferred
- Experience with farm, construction, material handling, diesel equipment, small engines, and/or components of vehicles and lift trucks preferred
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions from an extensive variety of technical instructions
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Customer relationship skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and percentages
- Ability to learn in classroom style training
- Ability to properly lift/carry up to 100lbs for short distances
- Range of motion including reaching, sitting, lying, bending, and kneeling to work on equipment
- Proficiency with technologic devices such as tablets and smartphones
Education and Certification Needed:
- High School diploma or GED
- Technical school coursework in electrical, mechanical or automotive field a plus but not required
- Automotive Service Excellence certifications a plus
Day to Day Tasks:
Technical and Mechanical
- Troubleshoot to locate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions; may need to operate test equipment.
- Operate forklifts for troubleshooting and quality assurance checks after repairs have been completed.
- Dismantle, assemble, or reassemble engines, transmissions, or differentials, fuel systems, and hydraulic and electric components.
- Service forklifts with water, fuel, oils, or lubricants and apply cleaning solvents when needed.
- Determine what parts are needed to make repairs and fabricate or repair parts as needed.
- Examine parts to ensure correctness before returning to the job site.
- Align, adjust, repair, or replace worn or broken mechanical components or parts.
- Use hand or power tools and precision measuring tools where needed.
- Use acetylene welding/cutting torch, electric welding machine. (Must be certified)
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
- Responsibilities may require work to be done in our shop or may be required to be done at customer’s location.
Administrative
- Ensure completion of work and satisfaction for our customers.
- Participate in and stay up to date on TMHU training online.
- Manage multiple customer work orders in process and ensure timely completion with in less than two weeks.
- Ensure paperwork is complete, accurate, signed off on by our customer, and turned in promptly.
- Work with customers to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Read, understand, and use the shop and parts manuals as well as operating manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Contact the Warranty Coordinator regarding issues related to warranty status “before” work is performed.
- Contact proper personnel on full maintenance rental accounts when repairs are needed.
- Assist in promoting department communication between Dispatch, Rental, Sales, and Field Service Managers by relating issues relevant to customer satisfaction.
- Manage call response time within 2-3 hours of dispatch time; communicate with dispatcher to minimize drive time.
- Inform dispatch of location and job destination after every job is complete.
- Follow quoting procedures – fill out a handwritten quote under $500.00. Field Service Manager to complete quotes over $500. Rental department to quote and approve rental unit repairs over $500.
- Maintain 100% compliance on completed plan maintenance.
- Notify Field Service Manager if unable to diagnose equipment resolution within one hour.
- Represent company in a professional manner encompassing our mission statement and values.
- Evaluate van stock against customer needs to meet 75% goal of first time problem resolution.
- Adhere to all posted and documented safety procedures as well as those required by the customer.
- Maintain the service vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion with stock put away upon receipt.
- Follow maintenance procedures and schedule on van servicing, and cleaning.
- Report vehicle and on-the-job injuries to Field Service Manager immediately.
- Complete appropriate paperwork for vehicle accidents kept in the van with the registration, proof of insurance, and other documents.
- Ensure work area is left accessible and uncluttered.
