PAY RANGE: $52,000.00 - $70,000.00
REPORTS TO: SCADA Administrator

WORK LOCATION: Seguin, Texas
SUMMARY
The SCADA Technician I supports the SCADA Team in the configuration, maintenance, and installation of GBRA’s SCADA systems components. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and repair of various field components. Experience in industrial instrumentation, controls and electrical is highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, modify, maintain and troubleshoot SCADA systems hardware, including PLC, radio, network and power supply components
- Act as first level support for GBRA’s operating divisions. Appropriately escalate downtime situations for support to restore operations
- Understanding of industrial electrical installations and test equipment necessary to safely identify electrical hazards
- Monitor usage and inventory levels of systems components to ensure availability of adequate spares
Requirements:KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to interpret drawings both mechanical and electrical
- Self-starter who can work under limited supervision
- Ability to communicate technical subjects to GBRA employees who have little or no background and/or experience in control systems
- Reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to execute project tasks assigned
- Ability to identify, maintain and troubleshoot PLC components and HMI components
- Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot basic industrial control components and basic data radio systems
- Knowledge of ethernet and serial networks
- Proficiency in the use of laptop computers, multi-meters, and other calibration equipment
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in instrumentation, electronics or industrial fields, or Technical Certification from an institution accredited by a national recognized accrediting agency desirable. Experience may be substituted in lieu of educational preference.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years’ experience in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial control and SCADA systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to climb up to 40’ and lift/carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. Standard physical activity such as periodic standing, walking, sitting, and basic motor skills to operate necessary computer programs.
Employees must wear protective footwear in compliance with ANSI or ASTM standard. New employees must provide protective footwear in compliance with ANSI or ASTM standard. Replacement footwear is provided annually for qualifying employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Persons in this position will travel throughout the 10-county service area. Work is roughly 50% indoors and 50% outdoors. Work is performed at electrical power plants, pump stations, lift stations, water distribution sites, and water and wastewater treatment plants. Persons in this position are subject to call at any time and under all weather conditions, and may be required to work long hours during emergencies.
TRAVEL
Personal transportation is required to normal work site at which point employee will use vehicles provided by GBRA to perform duties.
Overnight travel limited to meetings and training.
