Job Description
Company Overview
We are Nevados Engineering, an innovative startup based in San Francisco, CA that is pioneering in the solar industry. At Nevados, we believe that solar installations should fit to the earth instead of forcing the earth to fit to solar installations. We set out to make solar a cost-competitive source of clean energy in every way possible.
We specialize in designing and selling mounting systems for the solar industry called Single Axis Trackers. Our product, the Nevados “All Terrain Tracker”, is unique in that it enables installation on ungraded terrain. This triples the amount of land available for developers, reduces construction costs, and reduces construction labor on flat, sloped, and rolling terrain.
Position Overview
As a solar performance engineer within Nevados’s software team, you will be responsible for developing horizontal single-axis tracking algorithms to maximize system production. You will work closely with our cloud software and embedded teams to develop tools which are deployed both to the web and to edge devices in the field.
You will also be responsible for developing new performance modeling methodologies to improve the industry’s understanding of solar energy yield on terrain, interfacing with customers to guide their performance modeling efforts, and analyzing the performance of existing systems.
This position reports to the Director of Software and Controls.
