Job Purpose
The Sales Associate serves customers in person or over the telephone. They advise customers on solutions to problems. They also sell and arrange delivery or pick-up of material, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain a clean and well-stocked store with merchandise properly displayed and properly priced.
· Cooperate with yard operation to accomplish business objectives.
· Monitor store inventory, identify items to order, and submit materials orders to suppliers.
· Ensure a safe, hazard-free, secure store for customers and employees.
· Establish and maintain good customer relations.
· Enforce company credit policy.
· Prepare quotes in a timely manner.
· Follow and enforce approved operating policies and procedures.
· Participate in regular meetings with employees to keep them informed on those matters that affect the successful performance of their jobs.
· Perform any other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· At least one (1) years’ experience in counter sales in a retail store.
· Sales and customer relations skills to ensure continued growth and profitability.
· Computer skills to operate a point of service terminal to make sales and check inventory.
· Technical knowledge of hardware and building supply industry.
Physical Demands
· Required standing for prolonged periods of time.
· Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
