ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies.

Manages programs with suppliers and internal cross functional team members that address lead times, production scheduling, quality performance. Resolve material shortages in a timely manner to meet production schedules.

Reviews requisitions and prepares purchase orders

Evaluates and maintains the material requirements plan for assigned commodities and maintains records accordingly to company and/or departmental guidelines.

Maintains ongoing communication with related departmental personnel to ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials / services
-
Confirms computerized procurement records in Oracle, such as items or services purchased, cost, lead time, accounting term, delivery arrangements, comments, etc.

Reviews defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality personnel, vendors and others to determine root cause and corrective action,
-
Follow up with related departments to ensure acceptable material is received and vendors are paid within terms of purchase order,

Expedites delivery of goods to users.

Other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION
EDUCATION:
-
Bachelor’s degree required; Equivalent Experience will be considered on a case by case basis
EXPERIENCE:
-
Minimum 2 years as a Buyer preferred
-
Preferred 1 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferably in the transportation industry
OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
-
Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications
-
Proficiency in MRP systems (Oracle)
-
Understanding of supply chain management concepts (identifying and eliminating redundant costs and non-value added procedures. etc…)
