United Health Services in Upstate New York is hiring 2 full-time Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologists to supervise our lab services and phlebotomy teams at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, New York. These benefits-eligible positions are for day and evening shifts.

Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist Position Overview
The Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs the duties of a Medical Technologist, which include running routine and specialized tests, monitoring lab processes, and verifying test results, and functions as the section supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining SOPMs and instrumentation, supervising and training staff, and overseeing the operations of their assigned section.
Senior Lab Technologists are expected to uphold all policies and procedures set forth by United Health Services, the NYS Department of Health, and the CDC. Servicing thousands of patients per year, our high-volume laboratories are accredited by the NYS DOH and the College of American Pathologists.
Job Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor staffing levels and make adjustments as appropriate to meet various clinical care and financial objectives
- Interview, hire, and provide orientation for new personnel in accordance with policies and procedures
- Supervise technical personnel in the performance of routine and complex laboratory testing in one or more of the departments within the clinical laboratory
- Evaluate and document staff performance and take corrective action as outlined by Human Resources policy
- Ensure departmental compliance with all regulatory standards, identify internal controls, and provide mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Plan by establishing quality control standards, compiling QC data, and reviewing all data to ensure accurate reporting of lab results
- Troubleshoot equipment as necessary, identify problems, and perform repairs whenever possible and/or initiate manufacturer service calls
- On a daily basis, review completed laboratory data (computer data entry, completion of all test orders, calls list) to ensure the accuracy of reports as ordered, confirm all testing is performed in compliance with current policies and procedures, appropriately document any occurrence that may impact patient care, educate staff on any errors, and recognize and interpret any clinically significant results and notify providers per policy
- Co-chair monthly staff meetings for departments to provide an open forum for identifying issues and the need for corrective actions or further communication
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
- Participate and assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the team’s continuing education needs

Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher for Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related title from a program registered by the NYS department of licensure or a program determined to be the substantial equivalent of a registered program (refer to the NYS Office of the Professions for academic requirements for licensure) or a grandfathered NYS Clinical Laboratory
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or eligibility
- 6 years of work experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Preferred:
- Specialty certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification
