Primary Objective:
PCB® manufactures piezoelectric sensors used to test and measure vibration, pressure, force, acoustics, load, and shock in research and development as well as industrial applications.
As a vertically integrated company, PCB has several internal divisions which manufacture many of the component parts used to manufacture sensors. PCB’s Piezoelectric Crystal Facility is seeking a Production Manager to support the day to day manufacturing operations.
PCB’s Crystal Facility manufacturer’s quartz and ceramic crystals, from wafers or raw powdered chemicals through finished product. Powder processing operations include various chemical powder processing operations, including but not limited to, weighing of raw chemicals, batch mixing, calcination, mechanical die pressing of ceramic powder, and inspection steps. Crystal manufacturing operations include various machining, chemical, electrical, inspection or machine operator processing steps. Machining operations include various CNC and manual machines, including Robodrills, grinders, dicers, lathes, lappers, and precision test instrumentation. Manufacturing processing and testing operations include equipment such as hot plates, ovens, furnaces, ultrasonic cleaners, vapor degreasers, laser etchers, chemical or vapor plating equipment, electrical stations, and precision test instrumentation.
As the Production Manager, you will be responsible to lead and supervise a team of manufacturing technicians and machinists, in a fast paced environment, to safely execute Powder Manufacturing and Crystal Manufacturing operations. Knowledge of Process Safety Management and demonstrated experience with continuous improvement tools such as LEAN, six sigma, 5S, and root cause analysis will be necessary to ensure success. This position is responsible to drive continual improvement and timely, quality completion for all operational processes. The Production Manager will set department goals, provide technical assistance, solve production problems, facilitate machine and facility maintenance, manage job scheduling and on-time delivery, and product quality. You will have responsibility to monitor and evaluate work performance, motivate employees, and provide counsel, training, and disciplinary action. Must demonstrate a sense of urgency to meet commitments, good documentation, organizational, supervisory, time management and communication skills.
The Production Manager must have a thorough technical knowledge of department products and a working knowledge of ERP, material systems, and ISO standards. It is necessary to demonstrate computer literacy and knowledge of PC based software such as Microsoft Office, including strong proficieny in Excel, Power Point, and Word. Proven ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems through analysis of data and facts.
Must be able and willing to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including working with hazardous chemicals, including lead oxide, solvents, acids, and cleaning solutions, work in both dry and wet chemical processing, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as: safety glasses, goggles, gloves, respirators, cleanroom suits, smocks, steel toe boots, or thermal protection. Responsible for following company hazardous waste management procedures for hazardous wastes which are routinely generated through the manufacturing processes performed during normal duties.
PCB is involved in the development of technology controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. For the purpose of our compliance with U.S. Export Control laws, U.S. citizenship or permanent resident/green card is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Hires, schedules, instructs, trains and develops personnel. Ensure they follow policies and procedures, including proper labor tracking and job transactions, and conducts performance evaluations.
2. Conducts regular production meetings to ensure on-time and expedited delivery of products while minimizing overtime and maximizing productivity, and relays pertinent information back to team members. Maintains an effective communication system with staff.
3. Drives a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating department processes for more efficient means and engaging in improvement projects.
4. Responsible to monitor department metrics and take action to correct when measurements are unfavorable (e.g., PPHH, SA, OT, T, C). Motives team to drive toward production goals.
5. Presents and reports on department projects, goals, and results to team members and company leadership.
6. Collaborates with department leadership in establishing or amending departmental policies and procedures, including standard operating procedures for all operational processes.
7. Maintains equipment and inventory, including management of the tool crib stock and other essential department materials, fixtures, and tooling. Ensures preventive maintenance of equipment and facility is completed as required.
8. Responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, clean, and professional work environment by following company EHS policies and procedures.
